Fri. Jun. 19: STACEY KENT  -7:30pm-

Tix: $45.00 ($58.95 through Ticketmaster, $52.00 at the Birchmere Box Office)

Stacey Kent, returns to the club with saxophonist/composer/arranger, Jim Tomlinson and pianist, Art Hirahara, to present Songs From Other Places.

Songs From Other Places is a captivating and eclectic collection of voice and piano duets which originated when I Wish I Could Go Travelling Again, written for her by Nobel Prize-winning author, Kazuo Ishiguro and Jim Tomlinson, was the most requested song during 2020 at the height of lockdown. A remote recording project spawned an album and now a hugely successful worldwide touring project which brings Stacey together with her two closest and longest running musical associates.

The repertoire of Songs From Other Places is an exploration of the themes of place, belonging, and the transformative power of travel. It includes songs by Paul Simon, Jobim, Weil & Gershwin, Lennon & McCartney, Stevie Nicks, plus new Tomlinson & Ishiguro originals, all performed in Stacey’s intoxicating style and a fusion of Romance languages.

With over 2 million album sales, 400 million streams on Spotify and a host of awards including Best Vocal Album for I Know I Dream (Sony) at the 2018 Jazz Japan Awards, a recent nomination for Best Vocal Performance at the 2022 Jazz Music Awards coming up in Atlanta, Georgia, Kent continues to grow as an artist and performer.
